Volkl’s BMT 90 is a fantastic option for touring and backcountry enthusiasts who are looking for a light carbon-powered ski to take them to the furthest reaches of snow-covered mountain peaks.
Why we like it:
Carbon is a great material in touring skis due to the blend of light weight and energy. The BMT 90 borrows a lot of downhill power and performance from their alpine shapes, and puts it into a much lighter build.
Who it's for:
The BMT 90 is a touring-specific ski for backcountry enthusiasts. If you want to explore and get out there and climb, the BMT 90 is an awesome ski.
Highlights:
The full carbon jacket and 3D Ridge provide plenty of reaction and pep to the ski, making it a great option for technical zones and tighter spaces. The light weight allows for easy climbing and efficient skinning.
Things to consider:
While many skis have blended into the hybrid side of the spectrum, capable of both in and out of bound skiing, the BMT 90 still falls more to the touring-specific end. There’s not a lot of resort application here, as this ski is far more at home in the backcountry.
