- Choose the Right Size: When selecting a size, consider not only your dog's neck circumference but also the cone’s width and the shield’s height to ensure full coverage of the wound. The dog cone alternative should extend past your dog’s mouth to prevent them from biting the guard or reaching the wound. This inflatable dog cone may not be suitable for dogs with longer noses, legs, or tails, or more flexible breeds (such as Greyhounds)
- Helps the Healing Process: While wearing a dog cone collar may affect your dog's comfort, the dog inflatable neck collar offers a more pleasant experience compared to traditional plastic cones. Its rounded design creates a barrier that prevents your pet from aggravating his/her wounds. Similar to an inflatable neck pillow, it doesn't block your dog's vision and minimizes discomfort. Plus, if your dog bumps into something, there’s no frightening noise, making the healing process less stressful
- Clear Shield for Extra Protection: The detachable shield helps prevent your dog from reaching certain areas and can be easily attached or removed via a zipper as needed. Avoid pulling the zipper on the protective guard forcefully to prevent breaking and ensure its longevity. For optimal use, supervise your dog while wearing the dog recovery collar. Continuous monitoring is essential to prevent your dog from biting or damaging the shield
- Keep the Cone Secure on Your Dog: Dogs may try to remove the inflatable dog collar due to discomfort, unfamiliarity, or improper fit. To minimize this, ensure you select the correct size. Insert your dog’s collar into the loops of the inflatable dog collars for after surgery and fasten the hook-and-loop closures securely. Additionally, perform desensitization training before use to help your dog adjust more comfortably
- Ensure Proper Inflation: Trim your dog's nails to prevent scratching that could puncture the inflatable cone collar for dogs. The inflation valve has a small cutout—pinch the base of the valve to open it and allow air to enter. While pinching, use a sele-purchased pump or your mouth to inflate the dog donut collar. You can adjust the firmness by varying the inflation to avoid excess pressure on the seams, which could cause leakage. Once inflated, quickly cover the valve with the cap to seal it
