Flange Nuts Serrated 18-8 Stainless Steel - 1/2-13 (.75 Flats x .458 Thick) Qty-1,000

Hex flange nuts are hex nuts with a wide flange portion near one end that acts as an integrated non-spinning washer. Flange nuts are used to spread the load placed on the nut over a wider surface area to prevent the installation material from damage. The flange acts as a washer which allows the nut to fasten evenly to the surface of the installation material.

• A flange nut is a nut that has a wide flange at one end that acts as an integrated, non-spinning washer. This serves to distribute the pressure of the nut over the part being secured, reducing the chance of damage to the part and making it less likely to loosen as a result of an uneven fastening surface.
• The flange may be serrated to provide a locking action. The serrations are angled such that they keep the nut from rotating in the direction that would loosen the nut.
• Because of the serrations they cannot be used with a washer or on surfaces that cannot be scratched. The serrations help in avoiding vibration of nut and increase the holding power of nut.
• Serrated flange nuts create a locking action, allowing a serrated flange nut to be substituted for a lock nut.
• Flange nuts are available in Stainless Steel and Zinc Plated Steel for corrosion resistance.
