From the author of "Pass the Torch: How A Young Black Father Challenges The 'Deadbeat Dad' Stereotype" is a new collection of short stories and poetry aimed to educate and entertain. Jamiyl Samuels depicts a behind-the-scenes look at his first week as a challenger on the "Freestyle Friday" segment of the BET network's popular Hip Hop countdown show "106 and Park", salutes the life and legacy of Michael Jackson, and voices a strong opinion on the mind state of NBA superstar LeBron James leading up to his decision to depart the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat back in 2010. With fictional accounts of a tense situation arising from a simple journey to the corner store, a driving while Black traffic stop in the early hours of the morning, poetry on fatherhood and jail through the eyes of an adolescent, "Just My Thoughts..." promises something for fans of drama, music, sports, and real life experiences.
